Mystery after three teen boys found dead in motel room

Three teens are mysteriously dead and seven others are being treated for injuries after they were found unconscious in a motel.

South Korean Fire department officials said the cause of the injuries at the motel in Gangneung was unclear, although a gas leakage was a possibility.

There were no immediate signs indicating suicide attempts or foul play, an official from the Gangwon Fire Headquarters said.

Rescue workers at the scene presumed the teens had died based on vital signs and the official said the seven other boys, who shared a room, were being treated at hospitals.

A police official from Gangneung, Kim Jin-bok, said the boys were high school seniors from the capital Seoul who were apparently travelling after taking the national college entrance exam last month.

Mr Kim said police officers were investigating the motel’s owner who called police after finding the boys unconscious Tuesday afternoon.
