Mystery shopper $20m richer after Lotto win
A mystery Southern Sydney shopper has woken up $20 million richer after winning half of the mega $4o million Powerball draw.
Lott officials are desperately trying to track down the person who bought the winning ticket from a Kirrawee newsagent in south Sydney after the Powerball draw resulted on Thursday night resulted in two winning entries.
The ticket was unregistered so officials have been forced to wait for the lucky winner to announce themselves as they currently have no way to contact them.
The other half of the $40 million Powerball draw will be split between 20 members of a syndicate in Victoria, with each member taking home a $1 million share of the win.
“Imagine going to bed tonight not knowing you’ve just won $20 million? That’s the reality for one New South Wales player after scoring a slice of the division one prize in tonight’s Powerball draw!” The Lott spokesman Matt Hart said.
“All we know is that this ticket was purchased at One Stop Shop in Kirrawee, Southern Sydney.
The Lott is encouraging everyone who purchased a ticket into this week’s Powerball draw to check their entries as soon as possible.
Mr Hart said some syndicate members held unregistered entries and might have yet to discover their winning news.
“While members of this winning group might not know each other, they are now united by the fact that tonight they each became a Powerball millionaire,” he said.
“Some of these division one winning syndicate members have already begun celebrating their good fortune knowing their bank account is about to be boosted with more than $1 million.
“While we’ll be reaching out to those winners who are registered, there are still some unregistered syndicate members who may have yet to discover their good news.
“If you purchased a share in a syndicate for the week’s Powerball draw, today’s the day to check it.
“If you discover you’re holding a winning share, call The Lott on 131 868 to start the prize claim process.”
