Mystery handwritten letter may hold key to finding man who confronted girl, 9, on bike

Police have released snippets of a letter they believe was written by a man who confronted a nine-year-old girl while she was riding her bike to school.

The girl was approached by the man on Skeeter Drive in Mernda, about 30 kilometres northeast of Melbourne, on Friday.

The man grabbed her bike’s handlebars and convinced her to walk alongside him.

She managed to run away from the man who dropped the bike and fled the scene on foot.

The girl was not injured.
