Vic police probe two deaths hours apart

Police are investigating two separate deaths that occurred hours apart in the same suburb and left grieving families searching for answers.

A 25-year-old Springvale man was found critically injured at a home in Noble Park on Friday and died at the scene.

Emergency services were called to the Lesley Grove address about 1am following reports of an assault.

A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, a 59-year-old man was found unresponsive inside a Henry Street residence about 5am and later died.

Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding both deaths.

A 24-year-old man from Officer assisted police with inquiries relating to Friday's incident and was released without charge.

The deaths follow a spate of shootings across Melbourne in recent months.

Former Mongols bikie Suleiman "Sam" Abdulrahim was shot in Fawkner on June 25 as he drove his luxury car in a funeral procession.

The following week a man armed with a screwdriver was shot by police in Coburg North and a house in Epping was targeted as part of a drive-by shooting.

Victoria Police recently launched a task force to crack down on gang-related violence and organised crime.
