Mum's warning after 'disgraceful' find in park near school
A Sydney mum has posted a warning after making a “disgraceful” find in a local park.
Kylie Hockey posted a picture of a needle she claims she found in a park backing onto her property in the Sutherland Shire.
It’s also an area next to Port Hacking High School.
“Every day we play ball with our dog in that area and my daughter also likes to play there as do other families with children and dogs,” she wrote.
“Disgraceful this was left behind. Please be aware when using the park.”
Residents have slammed whoever was responsible for not disposing of the needle.
“That’s bloody disgusting,” one woman wrote.
“What a disgrace of a person for leaving that behind so an innocent person/child/animal gets hurt/infected,” another wrote.
Another said it’s a “very sad world we live in”.
Others suggested reporting the find to council.
“Most councils will then make sure their staff keep an eye on the area,” one woman wrote.
“They have grabbers and special containers for sharps. Near a school they will almost always put it on a priority list for the cleansing and parks staff.”
Sutherland Shire Council has been contacted for comment.
