Mums use broken coffee cups as weapons in bus stop brawl

A fight between two mothers at a school bus stop got ugly when one allegedly smashed a coffee mug over the head of another.

The argument, which broke out in the Florida city of Saratosa, was allegedly over parenting, ABC7 Chicago reports.

One of the mothers, Tiffani Cruz, told the news outlet tensions had risen between the two women several weeks prior, after she confronted the other mum for yelling at another child at the bus stop.

In the latest incident, Ms Cruz hit the other woman, who has not been identified, in the face with a coffee cup, leaving her bleeding, according to witnesses.

The other woman then allegedly stabbed Ms Cruz with a broken coffee cup shard.

“I put my arm up and I went to run and that’s when she picked up the glass, ran at me and stabbed me twice in my arm, once at my wrist and in the back of my shoulder,” Ms Cruz said.

Both women ended up in hospital, according to North Port Police.

Several school students at nearby Saratosa County School allegedly witnessed the violent fight and have been offered counselling.

Asked if the fight had gone too far, Ms Cruz told news outlet WFTS Tampa Bay that she had acted in self-defence after the other woman had raised her fist at her.

“I regret the whole incident, there’s no reason it should have happened,” she added.

“We’re adults.”

No charges have been laid but police are investigating the incident.
