An 18-year-old model has died from complications caused by Covid-19.
Valentina Boscardin – the daughter of well-known TV presenter, reporter and former model Marcia Boscardin – died in the early hours of Sunday.
The teen, who came from the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, was signed with Ford Models Brasil. The agency also confirmed her death.
Her mum, Marcia Boscardin, said goodbye to her daughter in her social media post, adding she would love her forever and "an angel has ascended to heaven".
“I’m in mourning. It is with great pain that I say goodbye to the love of my life," she said.
“May God welcome you with open arms.”
According to Marcia, the teen was previously healthy and had been administered both doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine.
Local media did not disclose which health facility Valentina was hospitalised in.
Tributes for 'rising' model
Her friends posted tributes on social media, saying the young woman was diagnosed with thrombosis and pneumonia on January 6 after contracting the virus.
“The daughter of beloved model and businesswoman Marcia Boscardin has died this weekend at the age of 18, a victim of a thrombosis after contracting coronavirus," family friend and journalist Felipeh Campos said.
“Valentina was on the rise and ready to embark on an international career, it is so sad. She was immunised with both doses of Pfizer. Rest now, Valentina.”
