Mum's chilling words after twins found dead in apartment

The mum of six-week-old infant twins has been charged with allegedly killing them after one child was found with a knife blade lodged in his head and the other inside a plastic bag underneath a sink.

Dallas and Dakota were found dead inside an apartment in Queens, in the US state of New York, on Thursday (local time) with their 23-year-old mum, Danezja Kilpatrick, sitting quietly nearby, Daily News reported.

The accused killer was on Friday charged with murdering the two children, acting in a manner injurious to a child and criminal possession of a weapon, according to the publication.

Just last month Kilpatrick's sister congratulated her on the safe arrival of her twins.

"Huge congratulations to my Sister Danezja on her newborn twins Dallas and Dakota Kilpatrick I’m so happy for her," she wrote to Facebook.

Concern was raised by Kilpatrick's cousin Keywona Llanos on Thursday, who reported the mum to police following a worrying conversation.

When officers arrived about 3pm, they reportedly found Kilpatrick sitting on a bed inside the home, where she told police: “I do not want them."

Dallas was reportedly found in a basinet with a knife sticking out of his neck, while his sister was found swaddled in a blanket inside a plastic bag in a cabinet beneath a sink.

Ms Llanos described the incident "a tragedy for the whole family" and expressed she was "at a loss for words".

Autopsies on the two children are reportedly in the process of being conducted.
