Mum's cheeky solution to everyday problem with her children

A Sydney mother has come up with a cheeky way to make sure her children drink more water over the warmer months.

Tania Perry shared her solution to keeping her kids hydrated over the summer on her Facebook page.

“Trying to encourage my kids to drink more water and less juice,” she wrote.

“So I Iabelled a jug ‘Sydney Tap Water’ and placed it in the fridge. Kids are attuned to anything with a brand right?”

The mum included a picture of a clear, plastic jug with the words “Sydney Tap Water” written on both sides.

Ms Perry wrote her theory seems to have worked.

“So, now I get specific requests – ‘mum, can I have some Sydney Tap Water please?’”

She added she’s asked her children whether they believe ‘Sydney Tap Water’ is “better than normal water”.

Her kids have told her it’s “cool, it’s refreshing, it’s great”.

“How long can I get away with this for?” she wrote.

Other mums were left in stitches with Ms Perry’s idea and also praised it, with one labelling it as “genius”.

“Marketing 101. Love this,” another woman wrote.

“So, now I get specific requests – ‘mum, can I have some Sydney Tap Water please?’” the mum wrote.

Others shared ways they’ve also tricked their kids into drinking water.

“My dad told my daughter that Evian water made her speak French,” one woman wrote.

“We refill a bottle of that and keep in the fridge. She always asks for French water to speak French.”

Another suggested Ms Perry tell the children the water is expensive and only allow them one glass from the jug a day.

“That’ll drive them crazy and they’ll be getting up in the middle of the night to sneak a glass,” she wrote.

In other clever mum hacks, Laura Castrillo, from Texas, shared a video in September of how to get children in and out of a trolley without lifting them up.

Ms Castrillo shared video of her hack on Facebook. She simply lifts the trolley’s back panel allowing her boy to climb in and out of the cart.

In November, a mum shared a quick way to create a classic meal.

She shared with parenting site Mumsnet how to make mashed potatoes quickly.

“Put potatoes in microwave until they’re done all the way through,” she wrote.

“Cut in half. Scoop potato out of skin straight onto plate. Add butter and smush with fork.”
