Mum who killed daughter with crucifix gets life sentence upheld

A woman has been handed a life sentence for killing her daughter by shoving a crucifix and gold medallion down her throat.

Juanita Gomez, 52, was sentenced after the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeal upheld a first-degree murder conviction against her, ABC News US reported.

Police found 33-year-old Geneva Gomez’s body with her arms spread out and with a crucifix on her chest.

The mother was convicted in 2016 for forcing the items down her daughter’s throat believing she had been possessed by the devil.
