Mum takes photo of her killer seconds before she was shot dead

A mum of four snapped an eerie photo of a man pointing his gun at her just seconds before she was shot and killed in front of her stunned son.

Ana Paula Ruiz, 41, from Mexico, died at around 11pm on Saturday after confronting a man who stole her son’s motorbike in the Mexican state of Chiapas.

The incident began when the victim's son Miguel Alejandro arrived at the Hotel Arrecife de Coral, where his mother worked as a receptionist, to pick her up, according to local reports.

He parked his motorcycle, but when he returned a few minutes later he discovered it had been stolen.

Ms Ruiz reached for her phone to take a photo of the gunman moments before he fatally shot her in front of her son.

After the attack, both thieves fled the scene, leaving Miguel's motorcycle behind.
