A mother has managed to save her baby from an abduction after a man allegedly snatched the child from a park, police say.

The mother, 30, and her 18-month-old daughter were at Centenary Park in Yinnar, Victoria at 1.45pm on Friday May 5, when an unknown man approached them.

The child had been playing on an in-ground trampoline when the man picked her up and began walking away with her, Victoria Police allege.

Police say the child’s mother then ran after him and managed to pull the child free before calling Triple-Zero for help.
