Mum finds blade inside daughter's Halloween chocolate

A horrified mother has shared pictures of a blade she claims was inside a chocolate bar her daughter received at an early trick-or-treating event at the weekend.

In a Facebook post shared on Sunday night, Kassandra Ringler, from the US state of Indiana, said she found the sharp blade inside a Milky Way wrapper that appeared to have been tampered with.

The woman’s daughter noticed the chocolate bar’s wrapper was open a little bit, so she unravelled it and found the blade inside, she wrote on Facebook.

In the post, she shared two photos of a broken Milky Way bar, which appeared to have a point blade sticking out. Ms Ringler said there was even rust on it.

The concerned mother contacted police to report what she had found.

The Noble County Sheriff Department confirmed the report.

“We have received a report of a small razor blade being found in a candy bar. This was reported as being received at Chain O’ Lakes during the trick or treating.

“As always, check candy before allowing your children to eat it when it comes from strangers,” the department warned parents in their own Facebook post.

Aussie Halloween items recalled amid safety fears

The news comes as an Australian company issued a recall of two popular children’s lollypops after metal was found inside the candy.

Park Avenue Foods is carrying out a recall of My Little Pony and Avengers Giant Pops, which weigh 180 grams, after the contamination was discovered.

Earlier this week Victoria’s consumer watchdog seized more than 3000 potentially harmful Halloween makeup products and costume accessories in a blitz across Melbourne’s southeast.
