Mum faces jail after her son, 3, urinates in car park

A mum faces jail time for allowing her three-year-old son to urinate in a public car park.

Brooke Johns, from South Carolina, will face court on April 30 charged with disorderly conduct after her son Cohen peed in a car park during a road trip at the end of March, WRDW reported.

She told the news station she’s had trouble toilet training her son and during the car trip he desperately needed to use the bathroom.

“He’s like, ‘Mom, I’ve got to pee. I’ve got to pee!’ I was like, ‘Well, hold on,’ and he’s like, ‘No! I’ve got to pee! I’ve got to really pee,’” Johns told WRDW.

“And I’m like, ‘Baby, there’s nowhere for me to go, and he says, ‘Mumma, I’m about to pee in my pants!’”

Johns ended up pulling in to a petrol station parking lot before realising her son wouldn’t make it into the bathroom on his own.

The mum of two, who is pregnant with her third child, wasn’t able to lift Cohen up.

“He was peeing before his pants were even all the way down, so obviously he had to go,” she said.

Cohen’s urinating caught the attention of a nearby police officer who charged Johns with disorderly conduct.

“Subject allowed her 2yo male child to urinate in the parking lot,” the ticket obtained by WRDW reads.

“I observed the male’s genitals and the urination. Public restrooms are offered at this location.”

The mum is facing either an A$1400 fine or 60 days in jail.

She’s shared a photo on Facebook re-enacting the incident and many have questioned why the police officer didn’t show more compassion.

“What this lady allowed to happen is technically breaking the law. But in every circumstance that you will come upon, during your career, please use common sense! This was not a drunk urinating this was a baby!” one man wrote.

Another added the ticket is “the most ridiculous thing” she’s seen.
