A mother has described the moment she discovered the body of an elderly man in a shopping centre car park who had gone unnoticed for days.
“There was blood, quite a considerable amount going into the drain,” Melissa Sprlyan told 7News.
The Perth mother who made the grisly discovery on Thursday told 7News she was shocked nobody else had noticed the decomposing body parked in a 4WD outside Herdsman Fresh in Perth’s north.
“I just can’t believe at nine o’clock this morning that I was the one who had to advise the staff,” she told 7News.
Ms Sprlyan said it was the “distinct” smell coming from the vehicle that drew her attention, explaining she was still “jittery” from the discovery.
“It was obvious something had happened and I was shocked no one realised sooner,” Ms Sprlyan told Perth Now.
It’s believed the unidentified man had been deceased for a number of days. Security cameras showed the man had been inside the store four days earlier before returning to his vehicle, where he remained until Thursday.
According to the Perth Now, staff felt terrible for not noticing the man sooner
He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be an elderly man. It's not known if the man was reported missing.
Police do not believe the death is suspicious.
