Horrifying moment mum attacked while pushing pram in Perth

WARNING – DISTRESSING CONTENT: Police are desperately appealing for information regarding a vicious assault where a mother was pulled to the ground by her hair while walking with her children.

The alleged incident happened at Smallman Place in Ashfield, a suburb in Perth, on Monday at around 12.40pm. A 15-year-old girl has been arrested in relation to the incident.

In a video released by the WA Police, two teenagers are seen riding scooters in a cul-de-sac before disappearing down a footpath.

Walking on that same path towards the cul-de-sac, a 37-year-old woman is seen with her two children in a twin pram.

Suddenly, one of the teenagers comes speeding down the path. They ditch the scooter and launch at the mother, grabbing her hair and dragging her backwards.

The woman tries to resist but eventually falls to the ground as the pram also falls backwards. Her children are seen kicking their legs in the air.

The alleged attacker continues to drag the woman backwards by her hair until they are obscured by a fence.

Police will allege the 15-year-old girl approached the 37-year-old mother and assaulted her and attempted to steal her handbag.

Shortly after the incident on Monday afternoon, the teen was taken into police custody and was charged with one count of robbery.

She will appear in the Geraldton Magistrates Court on September 13.

WA Police said the CCTV footage of the assault was being released to help identify the movements of the person depicted.

Investigations are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online.
