Mum accused of putting newborn's body in bin 'didn't know she was pregnant'

A mum accused of throwing her newborn baby’s body in the rubbish claims she didn’t realise she was pregnant until she gave birth.

Samantha Vivier, 22, gave birth in the toilet while she was working at an Amazon warehouse in Arizona in south west US on January 16, local outlet Arizona Republic reported.

The baby’s body was found wrapped in a plastic bag in the toilet rubbish bin by a cleaner and police were notified the same evening.

Vivier faces one count of unlawful disposal of human remains, according to the outlet.

She told police that she did not know she was pregnant and “panicked” when the baby was born while she was on her shift, local outlet WGN9 reported.

A co-worker told police that Vivier had been sick in the toilet and went home to get new pants, the outlet said.

Prosecutors believe the baby was stillborn, local outlet CBS5 reported.
