One dead, multiple injured at California church shooting
One person has reportedly been killed and four others critically wounded during a shooting at a church in Southern California.
Authorities were called to Geneva Presbyterian Church in the city of Laguna Woods, about an hour's drive south-east of Los Angeles, around 2pm on Sunday afternoon.
“We have detained one person and have recovered a weapon that may be involved,” the Orange County Sheriff's Department posted on Twitter.
While the number of casualties is not clear, a law enforcement source told the Los Angeles Times that at least one person was killed.
A fifth injured person has suffered minor injuries.
The shooting comes a day after an 18-year-old man allegedly shot and killed 10 people at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York.

Federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives responded to the scene, as victims were being treated and transferred to hospital.
No further details were immediately available.
Laguna Woods was built as a senior living community and later became a city.
More than 80 percent of its 18,000 residents are over the age of 65.
The shooting occurred in an area with a cluster of houses of workshop, including Catholic, Lutheran and Methodist churches and a Jewish synagogue.
