Motorway in chaos after shock car crash
A car crash has thrown Sydney’s M5 East Motorway into chaos, with all westbound lanes closed.
The chaos kicked off after a car crashed through an overpass and fell onto the busy road, sparking a large-scale emergency response.
“About 4.50pm on Thursday, emergency services were called to M5 Motorway, Bexley North, following reports of a single vehicle crash,” NSW Police said.
“On arrival, officers attached to St George Police Area Command located a white Nissan SUV which had rolled down to the M5.
“The male driver was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital for a mandatory testing in a serious condition.”
The crash closed the westbound lanes between Mascot and Beverly Hills and LiveTraffic NSW advises motorists to “use an alternative route”.
The closure was listed at 4.28pm.
