A mother who invited a 15-year-old schoolboy to her house and had sex with him has been jailed.
Suda Epuna, now 32, had sex with the boy seven times and sent him pornographic videos and texts, Hull Crown Court heard.
She was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison after she admitted charges of engaging in sexual activity with a child, attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
On one occasion, Epuna, of Maye Grove, Sculcoates Lane, Hull, had sex with the boy while her daughter was present, the court heard.
Stephen Robinson, prosecuting, told the court that in August 2019, Epuna began speaking with the victim on social media. She told him she was 29 and he lied that he was 17.
She invited him over to her house and asked him if he was a virgin. He replied that he was and she asked him to smoke weed with her.
Mr Robinson said Epuna hugged and kissed the victim and asked him to touch her. She then took him upstairs into the bedroom and they had sex.
“The second time they met, he admitted to her that he was 15, but that did not deter her,” he said.
The court heard they had sex seven times in total. In text messages, the boy told Epuna he loved her.
She replied: “If we love each other we must hide until you are 16 or 17. If people know I am with you, prison.”
The court heard the victim had asked Epuna to have her copper coil contraception removed, and she told him she had made a doctor’s appointment, but later said “she did not want him to be a father at 15”.
In further texts, the two discussed sex positions and she sent him pornographic images detailing what they were.
Their communication ended in September 2019 when the boy said he “could not take it any more and did not want to get her into s**t”.
The victim’s grandmother was in hospital at the time and he had told her about his contact with Epuna, the court heard.
His grandmother said she would sort it out and speak with Epuna after she was discharged, but she later died in hospital.
In a statement read in court, the victim said: “I feel embarrassed by what happened. She was a lot older than me and I feel she tricked me.
“I was only 15 and inexperienced, I was also curious and naive as many boys are my age.
“My grandmother was unwell and she was aware of that. I feel she took advantage of me. I just went along with it.”
David Godfrey, defending Epuna, said she felt great shame about what happened and that her daughter has been removed from her care as a result.
He said Epuna was a socially removed woman who was lonely and felt flattered, but that she knew what she was doing was wrong.
Jugde David Tremberg told Epuna: “It became clear the victim was only 15. You said if people found out you could go to prison, you went into it with your eyes wide open.
“You used him for your own sexual gratification. You left him feeling embarrassed.”
He sentenced her to 32 months in prison.
