More fears with Qld child abuse glitch

Queensland Education Minister Kate Jones has admitted there's a "clear risk" even more reports of suspected sexual abuse in schools did not make it to police and investigating the issue could take weeks.

It was thought the problems, which have stopped more than 670 reports reaching police, were due to an IT glitch in a new system but a manual audit found some never made it past the department's firewall and the problem could go back almost two years.

"This is going to be a long process but I expect, and I'm sure every parent out there expects, that we do this thoroughly," said Ms Jones, who has ordered all reports from September 2013 be checked.
