'Vital': Trio running in CCTV may be key to investigation into man's death

CCTV footage showing three people running after a man a week before his body was found in dense scrub may be key to the investigation into his death.

The video, released by Queensland Police, shows Neil Bennett, 43, running under the Sheep Station Creek Bridge at Morayfield, north of Brisbane, about 6.30pm (local time) on January 11.

Mr Bennett's body was found in heavy vegetation near a creek on Buchanan Road on January 19.

In the short clip taken before his death, he can be seen carrying a black bag and running towards Morayfield State High School.

Queensland Police also said at the time of the chase, Mr Bennett was wearing a ‘Popeye the Sailor Man’ shirt, which says ‘Welcome to the Gun Show’ on the front.

It is believed the 43-year-old came from the direction of the Morayfield Shopping Centre on the day the footage was captured.

Three men wearing high-visibility vests run along the same path a short time later.

Police are appealing for the trio, or anyone who knows them, to come forward in the hope they can assist with the investigation as they may be able to provide “vital” information which could aid the investigation.
