Moon Knight actor Oscar Isaac hired his brother to help him with his complex scenes
Actor Oscar Isaac is leaning in to his family when it comes to preparing for Marvel’s complex character Moon Knight.
In the Disney+ series Moon Knight, Isaac plays Steven Grant, a mild-mannered man who lives a mundane life, plagued by blackouts and mysterious memories of a life somehow separate from his own. After one fateful encounter, Steven discovers that he has Dissociative Identity Disorder and shares a body with Marc Spector (also played by Isaac)—a former mercenary and the ruthless avatar of Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the moon and vengeance.

In a press conference held by Disney+ this morning, Yahoo Life SEA heard firsthand from the 43-year-old actor, who candidly revealed that he hired his brother Michael Fernandez to help him with his complex scenes.
“The first step was to hire my brother to come in and be the other me,” he shared with a chuckle. Isaac then referred to the scenes where Grant and Spector spoke to each other through their reflections in the mirror. “It was the closest thing to me there is on Earth. So, he came in, and he would play either Steven or Marc and even did the accent and everything — both accents — and so that was really helpful to have someone that’s not only a great actor but also shares my DNA to play off of.”
Isaac continued, “Something that I didn’t anticipate was how technically demanding that was gonna be of having to, like, show up and decide which character I was gonna play first. And then try to black that out, give my brother notes and then do the scene and switch characters and then figure it out.”
The actor who got globally famous for acting in Star Wars and Dune also revealed that the most fun thing about acting is “acting opposite somebody and letting something spontaneous happen that you didn’t expect.”
Moon Knight also stars Ethan Hawke as Arthur Harrow and May Calamawy as Layla El-Faouly.
Moon Knight is set to launch exclusively on Disney+ on 30 March 2022.
