Montreal police say they are investigating the suspicious death of a 38-year-old woman found in a home in the city's Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough Sunday evening.

Police received a 911 call shortly before 5:30 p.m. about an incident at a home on Bourbonnière Avenue, near Laurier Avenue.

At the scene, police say they found the woman dead on the floor with marks of violence on her body, but they are not ruling out other causes of death.

An autopsy will be performed Tuesday.

A man who was in the home when police arrived was taken in for questioning but has since been released.

A security perimeter was set up to allow investigators and forensic technicians to analyze the scene.
