Horrifying moment mum throws young son from burning building

A video captured the dramatic moment a mother was forced to throw her two young children from a third floor window to save their lives in an inferno.

Lyubov Pavlunina, 25, woke at 7am to find her Russian holiday flat filled with smoke, she grabbed her two sons and screamed for help.

“The three of us fought through the smoke to the balcony, and I don’t remember any further from there - I passed out,” she said.

Video shows the mother drop her boys, one by one, almost 10 metres from an open window on an enclosed balcony, into the blanket stretched out by locals below.

“I shouted for at least the children to be saved, the children were my only priority,” she said.

Ms Pavlunina said she was terrified about throwing her children out of the window but she had no choice.

“I don’t remember how I did it, I don’t understand how I had the courage to do it,” she said.

The single mother escaped the burning flat when neighbours lowered a rope down from the floor above.

Three other adults also escaped from the same flat, said the Russian emergencies ministry.

“The window was blown out, everything that could burn, burned down,” she said.

Ms Pavlunina said she was lucky her sons and herself were not injured during the ordeal.

“It's good that we ourselves did not suffer, we only choked on smoke,” she said.

An investigation is underway into how the blaze started.

A report by NGS citing emergency sources said it is suspected a child had been playing with a lighter. There was also a report that a faulty microwave caused the inferno.
