A 16-year-old was arrested following a carjacking incident in Fort Myers, Florida, on December 6, police said.According to a statement from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified of the carjacking on Friday afternoon. The suspect, identified as 16-year-old Felix Marcial Ayala, had approached a female victim and demanded she give him her car keys.Police said members of the violent crimes unit worked with the Florida Highway Patrol to locate the vehicle.Footage from the Florida Highway Patrol shows the pursuit, with the vehicle driving away from law enforcement along Daniels Parkway. Police said the car crashed into several unoccupied vehicles en route.The driver of the vehicle and Ayala attempted to flee on foot, the report said, with Ayala being apprehended on Southwest Florida International Airport property.Police said Ayala was charged with carjacking without firearm or weapon, trespass on critical infrastructure property, and resisting an officer.“I will not tolerate anyone putting residents of Lee County at risk through actions like this,” Sheriff Carmine Marceno said. “I am incredibly proud of my deputies, detectives, and members of our Aviation Unit for swiftly removing this suspect from our streets.
