'So beautiful and so cruel': Model signed as 'face of hunting' gets death threats

An Instagram model who’s recently become the face of a hunting channel claims she’s now receiving death threats.

Johanna Clermont, 23, a self-described “proud huntress” from France, is appearing on advertising boards in the Paris metro for French hunting channel Zone300.

She’s made it her aim to break down female stereotypes in the hunting arena.

“I know. It may be surprising to see a young blonde like me. But I want to break the stereotypes,” she told The Telegraph.

Ms Clermont, who has 121,000 Instagram followers, posts photos of herself in camo gear carrying hunting rifles.

“Which is the first place you'll go after lockdown is finished? For me it will be the shooting range. I miss it so much,” she captioned a photo in April.

But her pastime has often drawn criticism.

On Facebook one man called her “so beautiful and so cruel”.

“You destroy the planet a little more every day,” one woman wrote.

“Shame on you.”

She also claims in 2018 she was physically assaulted at a bar for promoting hunting.

“This is what happens when you want to defend your passion until the end,” she wrote on Facebook with a photo of her bloodied nose.

However, the vitriol has only become worse after right-wing French magazine Valeurs Actuelles called her the “new face of hunting in France” following her photo being used to promote Zone300.

Zone300 describes itself as offering “quality films, highlighting the traditions of hunting and fishing while respecting the balance of nature”.

Ms Clermont told The Telegraph she’s received more backlash since the promo started.

She said she’s had to change her last name which wasn’t originally Clermont.

However, the criticism doesn’t seem to bother her much.

“Pissing people off is my second passion,” she told The Telegraph.
