‘Bored’ model facing drug charges blasted by judge in court
A Lithuanian model who copped a spray from a Melbourne judge for looking bored during her court appearance for drugs charges is back in court.
Jonita Ragaisyte, 27, pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing a drug of dependence earlier this week, more than two years after police raided the Docklands apartment she shared with then boyfriend Cemre Volkan.
The model's former boyfriend Volkan was jailed last year for drug trafficking and possession after police found an "Aladdin's cave" of drugs in the apartment including cocaine, GHB, ketamine, LSD, MDMA, steroids and testosterone.
Throughout an earlier hearing Ragaisyte appeared uninterested and told the Lithuanian translator to stop assisting her, prompting Judge Ryan to issue a stern reprimand.
"Understand well and truly that your liberty is at risk and it does your cause no good to sit and stare at the ceiling as if this is all too boring because you just might find yourself bored at Dame Phyllis Frost prison for women," he said.
The court heard the model came to Australia on a student visa in 2013 and began dating Volkan in 2016.
Volkan, who also went by the moniker Red Ra in the bodybuilding community, previously dated socialite Brynne Edelstein in 2014.
The hearing resumes on Friday.
