British model Charli Howard is no stranger to showing off her stunning porcelain skin after having posed for numerous racy lingerie brands such as Agent Provocateur and Honey Birdette.
But it was the 29-year-old body-positive activist’s recent outfit — a simple crop top and high-waisted pants combo — that really turned heads both in-person and online.
Charli shared several snaps to Instagram of herself sporting a pair of brown corduroy trousers and a belly-baring yellow long-sleeved top that featured eye-catching underwire beneath the bust.
In one of the pics, Charli showed off the back of the sheer half-bra-half-shirt number which featured a hook and eye closure traditionally found on a brassiere.
Called the ‘Long sleeve Underwire Polo,’ the risqué piece costs a cool $455 from US label Mirror Palais and was worn by none other than Bella Hadid earlier this year. It also comes in a navy hue which is slightly less see-through than the pale yellow version.
The unusual design attracted some negative attention from social media users prompting Charli to dip into the comments and clap back at criticism.
“That’s a weird shirt,” one Instagrammer wrote, to which she replied, “Don’t buy it then, bye.”
“How many people pointed out that it’s see-through??” asked another which earned the cheeky response, “One - your dad,” from Charli.
One user was slightly less snarky with their opinion, writing, “You are so gorgeous, but no to that shirt. The underwire looks so uncomfy”.
“It’s actually so supportive and you feel ‘secured in,’” Charli replied.
The overwhelming response, however, was wildly positive, with Charli’s fans flooding the comments with praise and compliments.
“Holy hell Charli!” one gasped.
“Yes yes yes,” wrote another.
One fan was impressed that the founder of Squish Beauty managed to pull off such a tricky look.
“Everything about this outfit is so, so wrong but somehow you look amazing,” they remarked.
If you’re keen to get your hands on the all-in-one bra/top you’re out of luck as it’s currently completely sold out in both colours with a six to eight-week wait for a re-stock — it has gone viral after all!
