Former MLB pitcher found dead after ex-girlfriend's murder
Police say a former professional baseball player sought in the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend has been found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the Grand Canyon.
The body of Charles Haeger, 37, was discovered about 4pm Saturday (local time) on a trail along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in northern Arizona, Sgt. Ben Hoster, a Scottsdale Police Department spokesman said in a statement.

Hoster said Police had been seeking Haeger on suspicion of the murder and aggravated assault of his ex-girlfriend.
The victim was identified by police on Saturday night as Danielle Breed, 34.
Breed owned The Tipsy Coyote Bar and Grill in Scottsdale, the Arizona Public reported.
Earlier on Saturday, Haeger’s unoccupied vehicle was found near Flagstaff in northern Arizona, police said.
Flagstaff is 190 kilometres north of Scottsdale.
Hoster said investigators determined that a male roommate of the victim heard gunshots when he returned to the residence Friday and that moments later Haeger emerged from the victim’s bedroom with a handgun.
“Haeger then pointed the handgun at the roommate,” Hoster said in a statement.
“The roommate quickly escaped out of the back of the residence, and he was able to get a neighbour to call 911.”
Responding police found the victim dead in her bedroom, Hoster said.
Ms Breed’s mother had earlier told FOX 10 Phoenix she spoke to her daughter just an hour before she was killed.
“I want him to turn himself in. He broke a lot of people,” Jane Long said.
“He shattered a lot of people today and he knows that. He knows that he knows how close our family was.
“He used to come to the family gatherings and we're talking about having 30 people 40 people every month.”

Charles Haeger’s MLB career
Haeger was a pitcher drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2001, throwing 83 innings across a five-year career in the major leagues.
His career included stints with the Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Dodgers organisations.
Haeger most recently played for the Dodgers back in 2010.
He also appeared in MLB games with the White Sox and San Diego Padres, tallying up a 6.40 ERA.
He worked mostly as a reliever.
