Missing hospital patient dies in bicycle crash
A missing hospital patient died after his bicycle crashed into a parked car on the Isles of Scilly, police have said.
The man in his 60s was reported missing at about 02:20 GMT on Saturday after he left the islands' only hospital on St Marys.
The ambulance service was called to the crash at about 04:30 GMT with the cyclist, who was later confirmed as the missing man, being pronounced dead at the hospital.
Supt Ben Asprey said: "Our thoughts remain with the family of the deceased man, who are being supported by specialist officers."
Devon and Cornwall Police said it will make a mandatory referral to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) following the incident.
The man's next of kin have been informed, the force added.
