Missing cat appears 1500km away from home after 18 months

A beloved family cat who vanished more than 18 months ago has been found alive and well 1500 kilometres away from where she was last seen.

Bobby, the orange tabby from Montana has a lot of explaining to do after he walked out of his family home in Great Falls last year, devastating his 73-year-old owner Kyle Preston.

“[He’s] been searching for Bobby since he went missing,” posted the SPCA on Facebook,” the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals wrote in a Facebook post.

“He even put out special food for Bobby every night, hoping to coax him home.”

But last week the pesky feline was spotted strolling the streets of Fallon, Nevada, before he was taken in for a scan at the SPCA.

A check of his microchip revealed Bobby was a fair trek from home.

The Preston family wasn’t able to make the flight over to Nevada to be reunited with their missing pet but fortunately a friend of the family who works for Delta Airlines managed to swing by during a layover.

When the long overdue reunion eventually took place, Mr Preston struggled to hold back his tears.

“My parents couldn’t believe it,” his daughter, Erika Evans, told local media.

“My dad never gave up hope. Bobby is supposed to eat a special diet cat food and my dad kept buying that food and putting it out for him.”
