Six people suffer suspected drug overdoses at Sydney music festival

Six people have been taken to hospital with suspected drug overdoses at a Sydney music festival.

Three men and one woman were also charged with supplying drugs and a significant amount of illicit drugs, including 135 MDMA capsules, were seized by NSW Police at Sydney Olympic Park’s Midnight Mafia event on Saturday.

NSW Police arrived at Midnight Mafia about 2:30pm with drug detection dogs and 32 people were arrested for drug possession.

Police searched 272 people at the event and seized large quantities of cash.

A 38-year-old man was arrested while carrying $41,000 in cash.

He was refused bail and will face court on Sunday, charged with knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

A couple was arrested after police reported uncovering 50 MDMA in their car parked outside the event.

The Blacktown man was charged with three counts of supply prohibited drug and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

The West Wollongong woman was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

Both were refused bail and will appear in court on Sunday.

During the event, 165 people required medical attention.

According to the organisers’ Facebook page, more than 8000 people attended the music festival which ran from 4pm until midnight.
