Michelle Leslie detained at LAX travelling with boyfriend Daniel Johns

Michelle Leslie, the Australian model who was jailed in Bali in 2005 for possessing ecstasy, has now been detained in America.

She checked in on a Virgin flight at Sydney Airport on Saturday with musician boyfriend Daniel Johns.

But when they landed in Los Angeles she seemed to have an issue at an automated passport kiosk.

Then after a quick kiss, Johns left Leslie with an officer who escorted her away.

It is not yet known why she was detained at the airport.

Leslie, who now runs an event business in Sydney, made headlines in 2005 when she was jailed in Bali after police found ecstasy pills in her handbag while she was on her way to a dance party.

She was found guilty of using a prohibited substance and sentenced to three months in jail in Bali's notorious Kerobokan prison.

Leslie and former Silverchair frontman Johns are understood to have been dating since October last year.
