Aside from the presidency, and while all branches of government are important, both parties are really vying for victory in the Senate. “Of the two chambers you’d rather have the Senate, particularly for the presidential party,” Kondik says. “You’re trying to get justices confirmed, you’re trying to get cabinet officials confirmed.
