New Mexico celebrates Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta
This Saturday, 12 October marks the beginning of the 52nd Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in New Mexico.
A nine-day annual celebration in which hundreds of uniquely beautiful hot air balloons are released to fly above Albuquerque, New Mexico. In past celebrations, spectators have had to bundle up for the event as it usually occurs on a cold morning. However, the 2024 celebration also marks the warmest one in history. This could affect how long pilots can stay in the air.
While 106 of the balloons flying this year are all crafted in special shapes, 16 of them are making their debut at the festival.
