If you're a Nintendo Switch owner, you've probably heard of one of the hottest new releases of 2021: Metroid Dread, a long-awaited addition to the popular Metroid series and the first 2D installment in 19 years.
Of course, like virtually all high-profile game releases, this one debuted with a pre-order price of $60. Even if you're able to score membership discounts at the likes of GameStop or Walmart, at best you might save around $10.
Have no fear, Discount Superman (a.k.a. me) is here. For a limited time, and while supplies last, Daily Steals will let you pre-order Metroid Dread for Nintendo Switch for $48 shipped when you apply promo code YHMTRD at checkout. I haven't seen a better deal anywhere online; indeed, as noted, most stores are selling it for $60.
If you've never shopped at (or heard of) Daily Steals, rest easy: It's legit. The company has been around for years and often serves up some of the best prices anywhere (as is the case here).
As for Metroid Dread, it's a scrolling 2D shooter that, to my eyes, looks like a perfect fit for the Switch. And here's hoping you like nail-baiting tension: At least one reviewer described it as "kinda terrifying." (It does have "Dread" right in the name.) Alas, I haven't had the chance to play it, so I'll turn you over to Engadget's Metroid Dread preview.
That coverage squares with what I'm seeing elsewhere: The game feels true to the Metroids that came before while adding plenty of Switch-powered polish. Whether you're a fan of the series or a newcomer to it, this will make a worthwhile addition to your game library.
