A man will appear in court charged with manufacturing the drug ice after police found a sophisticated clandestine laboratory in Sydney's CBD.

Last September, detectives from the State Crime Command's Organised Crime Squad, together with the NSW Crime Commission, began investigating the manufacture and supply of prohibited drugs across Sydney.

Strike force detectives and the riot squad raided a unit in Campbell Street, Haymarket, as well as a unit and garage at Castlereagh Street, Haymarket, on January 29.

They found a drug lab and seized 25kg of white power, as well as prescription medication, prohibited drugs believed to methylamphetamine and equipment consistent with the manufacture of illicit substances.

Officers also seized nearly $10,000 cash and five mobile phones.

During a search of the Campbell Street property, police seized more mobile phones, prescription medication, cannabis and other prohibited drugs.

A man was charged with manufacturing a prohibited drug, possessing a prohibited drug and knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime.

The 51-year-old appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on January 30 and was refused bail to reappear at Central Local Court on Thursday.
