'Melts my heart': Generous $1300 act leaves waitress in tears
A waitress has been moved to tears after a photographer used her social-media following to raise more than $1300 for the restaurant worker.
Caitlin Reilly, from Buffalo in New York, posted on Instagram 191 of her followers donated money.
She had put the call out asking people to donate to help small businesses and frontline workers, such as hospital staff.
Reilly decided to donate US$1000 (AU$1369) of it, half of the total donation, to a waitress at Break’n Eggs.
She filmed the moment the waitress became teary upon receiving her tip.
“It pays my rent for like three months, so thank you,” the waitress says.
Reilly claims the waitress, named as Cassie, later donated half of the tip to another member of staff.

The photographer told US news outlet WBTV she hadn’t met Cassie before giving the tip and said she worked as a waitress for eight years.
"It was heartwarming,” she said.
“I wanted it to go to someone I knew it would help.”
On Instagram, people praised her for the “amazing” act of generosity.
“This makes my heart so happy,” one woman wrote.
“You’re an absolute angel.”
Another woman added “you literally melt my heart”.
“I’m shaking. This is beautiful of you,” another woman wrote.
Reilly plans to donate the other AU$1300 to a frontline worker.
