Melissa Etheridge’s daughter engaged
Melissa Etheridge’s daughter Bailey Jean Cypheridge is engaged.
The 63-year-old singer’s girl announced she was getting hitched to her partner Jocelyn Simone by posting a series of images on Instagram of them cuddling – along with the caption: “Fiancés!!!!!!”
An initial photo in the carousel of pictures showed the couple kissing while out to dinner.
Others showed them laughing and hugging, while one shot showed rings on their left hands.
Their famous friend Rosie O’Donnell, 62, messaged the pair in the comments section of their post: “Congratulations (party popper, champagne bottle and balloon emojis.)”
Bailey Jean reposted the engagement announcement on her Instagram Stories along with the message: “I am the luckiest girl in the world. Yours forever (white heart emoji.)”
She revealed in an Instagram post last year how she came out to her parents during an appearance in the MTV and Paramount+ series, ‘Family Legacy’ and said they were extremely accepting of her sexuality.
Bailey added: “Some people even ask me if I’m gay ’cause my parents are gay, which I think is a really funny question.
“I came out when I was 14. I was really young.”
Bailey said that at the time she asked her family if her girlfriend could come over for dinner, adding: “Pretty much nobody else has a story like that, it was really easy for me.”
Bailey also told People a month after the post about what it was like growing up with a famous mother, saying: “I was always going on tour with her from such a young age. I was used to her performing and that being her job and part of her life.”
Melissa publicly came out as a lesbian in January 1993 at the Triangle Ball, a gay-themed celebration of President Bill Clinton's first inauguration.
Bailey was born via artificial insemination to the singer and her then-partner, Julie Cypher.
The late David Crosby was the sperm donor for both Bailey and her brother, Beckett, who died at 21 in May 2020 after battling an opioid addiction.
