A stunned Melbourne man says his $1 million Lotto win could not have come at a better time.
The Gladstone Park man held one of three $1 million division one entries in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4049, which was drawn on Wednesday night.
On Friday morning, the man was checking his ticket online, he said he was delighted to see the “loveliest surprise” pop up on his phone.
“I am still staring at my phone screen. I just can’t believe it,” he told The Lott.
“I’m still in shock. I honestly cannot believe it.”
The man explained he had been playing Lotto for quite some time, so it was incredible he had finally won something big.
It turns out the man has just recently retired, so the win could not have come at a better time.
“The timing really couldn’t have been better,” he said.
“I have just recently retired so I have all the time in the world to really enjoy it.
He added he will also be able to use his winnings to help out his children.
Adelaide woman becomes a millionaire
The winning entry was sold at Gladstone Park Lotto & Service Centre and the winning numbers for draw 4049 were 42, 16, 36, 8, 9 and 10, while the supplementary numbers were 44 and 41.
The Victorian man’s entry was not registered, meaning officials at The Lott had no way of contacting him, prompting The Lott to ask Gladstone Park players to check their tickets.
He was one of three players which took out the division one prize - the others were in Queensland and South Australia.
A woman aged in her 30s from Adelaide was the winner from South Australia. She admitted to dropping her phone after finding out she was a millionaire
“I’m going to use it to get my life sorted!” she declared.
“I’ll use it to set myself up for the future. I can’t wait to not worry about how much petrol to put in my car or wait for my next pay check.”
