Tributes have flowed on social media for the Maidstone man who police say died in hospital on Friday night.

The Westside Strikers Football Club in Caroline Springs, in Melbourne’s northwest, remembered Mr Arow as a popular soccer player.

“It is with a heavy heart that we at Westside Strikers FC learn of the passing of Richard Arow," the club wrote on its Facebook page.

"A former championship winning teammate at Brimbank Stallions FC to many of our current Senior team, all to whom Richard was held in high regard, his personality and everlasting smile is something we will always remember.

The Westside Strikers pledged to observe a minute's silence and players would wear black arm bands in a gesture of "solidarity and support" at the next game.

Mr Arow's death comes after security guard Aaron Khalid Osmani, 37, from Narre Warren South died in hospital last Sunday afternoon, and four others sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Homicide Squad detectives will continue to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting.
