Two children injured in a house fire in Melbourne's northeast last week remain in hospital, however their conditions have improved.
The two primary school-aged children, a boy and a girl, were found unconscious at a home in Mooroolbark along with a woman believed to be their mother on the evening of September 5.
The woman had injuries to her stomach and later died.
The two children suffered smoke inhalation and were hospitalised in a critical but stable condition.
As of Monday, the eldest child was in a stable condition, while the youngest was in a serious condition, the Royal Children's Hospital confirmed.
A crowdfunding campaign has raised thousands of dollars for the children, who are believed to have their father by their side.
Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire.
