Melbourne Awards 2014

Melburnian of the Year 2013 Major Brendan Nottle with Lord Mayor Robert Doyle and Deputy Lord Mayor Susan Riley.

The search to find inspirational Melburnians who have gone that extra mile to make a positive contribution to our society is underway.

Nominations are now open for the 12th Anniversary Melbourne Awards.

The awards provides an opportunity to honour and celebrate Melbourne's high-achievers and community heroes, recognising their outstanding contributions in the areas of sustainability, community and the profile of the city.

Channel Seven Melbourne is a proud partner of the Melbourne Awards and invites you to nominate an individual or organisation that has gone above and beyond to help create a better Melbourne.

Lord Mayor Robert Doyle said the Melbourne Awards highlight the range of contributions that have helped to make Melbourne the world's most liveable city.

"The Melbourne Awards recognise individuals, organisations and community groups that have made outstanding contributions to our city in the areas of sustainability, community and the profile of Melbourne," the Lord Mayor said.

"The Melbourne Awards are an opportunity to thank those who help make our city the most liveable in the world."

Past recipients have included iconic Melbourne events such as the Australian Open and the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, community groups including the Salvation Army and the Homeless Persons' Legal Clinic, and successful business personalities like Guy Grossi and Hatem Saleh.

Included in the awards program this year is the Melburnian of the Year, an honour bestowed on an inspirational role model for his or her significant and sustained contribution to the Melbourne community.

Winners include Major Brendan Nottle of the Salvation Army, music industry icon Michael Gudinski, prominent businessman and philanthropist Harold Mitchell and AFL legend and charity worker Jim Stynes.

Now is your chance to give those individuals and organisations the recognition they deserve.

Nominations are now open until June 16 2014. Who will you nominate?

Winners will be announced at a gala ceremony at Town Hall in November.
