How Meghan's break with protocol at royal wedding left guests in tears

More than a week after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot and became the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, we’re still eating up every detail the royal wedding guests have leaked about their private receptions.

The latest to bring back all the feels of last Saturday is the story of how Meghan put her acting and writing skills to use and brought everyone to tears with a poem for her new husband.

“It was the most special part of the entire day and the most unexpected,” a guest told the Sun of the duchess’s speech.

We did know that Meghan was breaking royal protocol (the rebel!) by giving a speech at her reception.

After the big day, a guest told Us Weekly about her speech, saying the bride thanked her mother and spoke about how much she loved her new husband.

This story from the Sun is the first we’re hearing that part of the speech may have come in the form of a poem.

“She spoke about their first date and falling in love at first sight,” the Sun’s source said.

“Meghan said she knew she had met her prince from the off and how blessed and lucky she feels to have found such a profound love.”

It made most of the 200 friends and family in attendance at Frogmore House, the groom included, tear up, the guest said.

We truly hope the reports are true, because it speaks to how Meghan will manage to remain herself in royal life.

While she won’t be acting or running a lifestyle blog as a duchess, she will have the opportunity to make an impact on the world with her charity work.

And, as she does so, she’ll get to make moving speeches like this to the public. The question is, will they be in verse, too?
