Max Futcher

Max Futcher is one of 7 News’ most experienced journalists.

He has reported locally, nationally and internationally for 26 years.

That experience includes four Olympic Games, and far flung assignments in Africa, Europe, throughout Asia and even Guantanamo Bay.

He has won several awards for his journalism, including the United Nations Peace Media award for reporting under fire in East Timor in 2006.

More recently, Max was assigned to the death and funeral of Nelson Mandela, and he won a Clarion Award for his coverage of the Bali Nine Executions in Java.

He reported the horror of the earthquake which struck in central Italy in 2016, before heading to Rio to report on the Paralympic Games, and last year covered the Westminster Terror attack and release of Schapelle Corby.

Closer to home, Max has covered major national events like the Beaconsfield Mine Rescue, the 2011 floods, and Brisbane’s G20 summit.

He lives in Brisbane with his wife and two daughters.
