New details have been revealed after Matthew Perry's shock death on Saturday (LA time) when the Friends actor was found in his hot tub at the age of 54.
According to TMZ, law enforcement sources have revealed the star's body wasn't waterlogged when first responders arrived at his LA home, meaning he hadn't been in his hot tub for long before his assistant found him and called 911.
She found the actor underwater and attempted to lift his head up to try and get him some air. The actor was pronounced dead at the scene after firefighters lifted him from the water.
While it's believed the actor drowned, no official cause of death has been determined.
Matthew had been playing pickleball earlier in the day, a sport he enjoyed and often played for hours at a time, however, he left after one hour on Saturday, saying he was more "fatigued" than usual.
There were no illegal drugs found at the actor's home, however, law enforcement sources told TMZ that multiple prescription drugs were found at his house.
"Authorities found antidepressants, anti-anxiety drugs and a COPD drug in the house," the gossip site claims.
The World Health Organisation states that chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common lung disease that causes restricted airflow and breathing problems. It is most often caused by smoking and puts sufferers at a higher risk of other health problems.
An autopsy will reveal whether or not any drugs were in his system at the time of his death.
Friends cast share tribute
Friends stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt Leblanc and David Schwimmer broke their silence on Matthew's shocking death with a joint statement to People, that reads: "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family.
"There is so much to say, but right now, we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time, we will say more, as and when we are able.
"For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."
