The celebrity chef was laid to rest on Saturday morning.

MasterChef star Jock Zonfrillo’s friends and family have farewelled the celebrity chef in a private funeral in Sydney on Saturday morning. The Glasgow-born star was found dead at 2am in Melbourne on May 1, after police received a call requesting a “welfare check”.

According to The Herald Sun, the TV personality’s family members have been arriving in Sydney over the past few days, travelling from both the US and Scotland for his memorial.

Jock’s children Eva, Sophie, Alfie and Isla were in attendance, and his wife Lauren Fried wore a Scottish tartan on her shoulder to honour his heritage.

His MasterChef colleagues and friends Andy Allen, Melissa Leong, Manu Feidel and George Colombaris were also there, with Melissa looking particularly distraught.

Jimmy Barnes, who delivered a heart-wrenching performance of The Bonnie Banks o’Loch Lomond on The Project’s special Sunday edition dedicated to the chef, was also spotted paying his respects.

After the service, Andy stood opposite Lauren as they carried the casket with four other men out of the chapel. It is understood that there will be no wake following the funeral.

Sydney Morning Herald has also claimed that the details of Jock’s funeral were kept ‘top-secret’ to give the family some space from the media attention surrounding his passing.

A source told the publication prior to the funeral that the family wanted to avoid unwanted attention during their time of mourning. “They’re trying to keep it as personal as they can, it’s critical they be given space to do that,” one of the attendees said.

Andy’s emotional interview about Jock

This comes after Andy Allen’s interview about his friend and co-star on The Project left viewers in tears.

"He's just always been there for me, and I'm just struggling to realise that he's actually gone,” Andy revealed.

The MasterChef judge said he had dined with Jock on Saturday, two days before he passed away.

"It was a usual lunch. We went to lunch. He ordered the whole menu. We hadn't seen each other for a while, it was a good old catch-up about what we've been doing, what we were excited about.”

Andy went on to say: "It was so normal. He was in such good spirits. He was so excited about the show launching."

The former MasterChef winner went on to say that he had seen Jock's wife, Lauren, and the couple's two kids the night before, saying they wanted Australians to know they can "feel the support for Jock and themselves".

"They're hurting but it does help. They've been overwhelmed with how much support there has been for him and the family.

"It's been unreal to see how much support and where it's come from and who it's come from. So, yeah, they just wanted to - for me to say that they feel it. They feel it. It's tough. But they feel it."
