Masa Vukotic murderer subdued with tear gas during birthday meltdown

The man who murdered Melbourne schoolgirl Masa Vukotic in a thrill kill was subdued in prison by tear gas and the riot squad during a birthday temper tantrum.

Sean Price is potentially facing disciplinary action after he allegedly used a makeshift blade in a confrontation with guards at Victoria's Metropolitan Remand Centre, the Herald Sun reports.

Already deemed one of the most high-risk prisoners in the system, Price reportedly refused to come out of his cell on his 32nd birthday on February 2, using a shield and shiv and damaging equipment.

He was eventually pacified when emergency group services fired tear gas at him.

"Officers used tear gas to help them extract the prisoner safely," a corrections spokesperson told the newspaper.

Price is currently awaiting sentence for murdering Masa Vukotic in March last year.

He pleaded guilty to stabbing the 17-year-old 47 times in a random and vicious attack as she ran through a park near her Doncaster home.

He will be sentenced in the Supreme Court where Justice Lex Lasry will also sentence him for rape, theft and attempting to steal a motorbike in a two-day crime spree in Melbourne's west.
