Mariah Carey's surprise sex confession about James Packer

Mariah Carey surprised readers of her new memoir by not writing about former fiancé James Packer, but has now revealed the reason he doesn't feature in the book is because they didn't have a "physical" relationship.

The 50-year-old had never confirmed that the pair never consummated the relationship despite rumours suggesting this may have been the case for some time.

"If it was a relationship that mattered, it’s in the book. If not, it didn’t occur... We didn’t have a physical relationship, to be honest with you," she told The Guardian when asked why James didn't make an appearance in The Meaning of Mariah Carey.

While her relationship with the Aussie billionaire didn't make the pages of the book, Mariah did write of a night of passion with US baseball star Derek Jeter.

The singer revealed the sportsman was the second man she'd slept with after her first husband Tommy Mottola, who was 21 years her senior.

Mariah wrote in the book of her night with Derek: "Everything was so new and sweet, down to the smooth texture of his honey-dipped skin. It was how it was supposed to feel."

She added, that the relationship was not meant to last: "DJ was a love in my life, not of my life."

Mariah's ex-husband Nick Cannon has also previously shared that he and the singer weren't intimate until they married in 2008.

Meanwhile, James Packer proposed with a 35-carat engagement ring on January 21, 2016 after first being spotted together in June 2015. By October 2016, the pair had split.

During the interview, Mariah also addressed constantly being called a "diva", telling the publication she doesn't "give a s**t".

"You know what? I don’t give a s**t. I f***ing am high-maintenance because I deserve to be at this point. That may sound arrogant, but I hope you frame it within the context of coming from nothing. If I can’t be high-maintenance after working my ass off my entire life, oh, I’m sorry – I didn’t realise we all had to be low-maintenance," she said.

When asked if she cared about the diva tag, she responded: "No! Who the f**k cares? Honestly! "Oh my God, they’re calling me a diva – I think I’m going to cry!" You think in the grand scheme of things in my life that really matters to me, being called a diva? I am, b***hes, that’s right!"
